Hang Seng Index Opens Lower by 189 Points Following Tech and Auto Stock Declines
The Hang Seng Index started the day with a drop of 189 points, or 0.74 per cent, opening at 25,335 points on futures settlement day. The China Enterprises Index fell by 90 points, or 0.98 per cent, to 9,055 points, while the Technology Index saw a sharper decline, losing 103 points, or 1.83 per cent, to 5,540 points.
Financial stocks showed mixed performance. HSBC Holdings rose 0.6 per cent ahead of its earnings report, while AIA Group, Ping An Insurance, and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange remained flat.
Technology stocks largely trended downward, with Meituan losing 1.24 per cent, Xiaomi falling 0.54 per cent, Tencent declining 0.9 per cent, and Alibaba dropping 2.49 per cent. However, Kuaishou managed a slight gain of 0.14 per cent.
