Japanese Stock Exchange Rises, Oil Drop Lifts Sentiment
Japan's Topix index rose 0.8% to 4,043.10 in Monday morning trading (July 27th). The Nikkei also rose 0.5% to 64,941.98, driven by gains in electronics and automotive stocks.
Market sentiment improved after oil prices fell following a pause in the US attack on Iran. Iran also held off retaliatory attacks and held talks with Oman regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
Hitachi shares were the biggest driver of the Topix, rising 3.3%. Of the 1,636 stocks in the index, 1,380 rose, 226 fell, and 30 remained stable.
However, several semiconductor stocks, such as Kioxia Holdings and Advantest, continued to pressure the Nikkei. The market hopes that a pause in the conflict will pave the way for negotiations and maintain positive sentiment on the Japanese stock exchange. (asd)
