Iran Will Resist Attacks as Long as the US Holds Back Its Military Operations

Iran has stated that it will halt attacks as long as the United States maintains a pause in its military operations. The statement came after both countries refrained from carrying out attacks for two consecutive days.

The United States halted its bombing campaign on Friday night after launching 13 nights of airstrikes against Iran. No US attacks were reported on Saturday or Sunday.

A senior Iranian official said Tehran's position remains based on the principle of "strike for strike." The message that Iran will suspend its military operations as long as the US does not attack has reportedly been conveyed to Washington.

US Ambassador to the United Nations, Mike Waltz, said President Donald Trump is pausing to allow space for the diplomatic process. However, the option of resuming military operations remains open.

US military officials are also reportedly running out of pre-determined targets. Other concerns have arisen regarding dwindling ammunition and air defense systems should the conflict escalate.

Despite the temporary pause in attacks, Iran remains skeptical about Washington's change of heart and believes the pause could be tactical. If both parties continue to exercise restraint, Middle East tensions have the potential to ease, but the conflict could escalate again if one of the parties continues attacks.
