Xi and Kim to Hold Talks in Beijing
Chinese President Xi Jinping and North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un are scheduled to hold in-depth talks in Beijing. According to a statement from the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday, the meeting will discuss bilateral relations and important issues of common concern to both countries.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun called the meeting "of significant importance," though he did not specify the timing. He emphasized that China is ready to strengthen strategic communication, enhance exchanges and cooperation with North Korea, and deepen shared governance experiences.
Guo added that the cooperation aims to advance the traditional friendship between China and North Korea and support each other's socialist goals. This demonstrates both sides' intention to strengthen political and economic alliances amid increasingly complex global dynamics.
The Xi-Kim meeting follows a major military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, which was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin. During the event, the three world leaders were seen walking together and chatting, a symbol of China's closeness and strategic strength on the international stage. (ayu)
