Asia-Pacific markets firm as China’s top policymakers gather
Asia-Pacific markets opened higher on Tuesday, tracking Wall Street gains on the back of a Tesla rally, and as investors awaited China’s top financial policymakers to speak at an investment summit in Hong Kong.
Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 was trading 0.53% higher in the first hour of trading. Japan’s Nikkei 225 was up 0.68%, while the Topix gained 0.65%. South Korea’s Kospi and Kosdaq were trading around the flatline.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng futures were at 19,766, up from the HSI’s last close of 19,576.61.
Australia’s central bankers said at a meeting earlier this month that while there was no immediate need to adjust interest rates, it was important to remain “forward-looking” and ready to adjust as economic conditions evolve.
