Hang Seng Rises as Z.ai Jumps
Hong Kong stocks opened higher on Wednesday, supported by gains in technology shares and renewed buying interest in the market. The Hang Seng Index rose 210 points, or 0.87%, to 24,551 at the start of trading.
The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 49 points, or 0.61%, to 8,152. Meanwhile, the Hang Seng Tech Index advanced 36 points, or 0.78%, to 4,716, showing that the technology sector remained the main driver of early market strength.
Major technology stocks helped lift the broader index. Tencent climbed 2.4%, while Alibaba added 0.7%. Gains in both tech giants strengthened positive sentiment in early trading.
Chinese artificial intelligence startup Z.ai became one of the top performers after surging 6.2% at the open. The move showed that investor appetite for AI-related stocks remains strong amid improving sentiment across Asian markets.
