Trump Warns Iran to “Move Fast” or Face Consequences
U.S. President Donald Trump on Sunday issued a stark warning to Iran, urging Tehran to act quickly amid stalled negotiations to end the war.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said time was running out for Iran and called on the country to take immediate action. “For Iran, the Clock is Ticking, and they better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them,” Trump wrote. “TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!” He did not specify what consequences Iran would face or what steps it must take to avoid them.
Tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high despite a fragile ceasefire reached in early April. The United States continues to enforce a naval blockade on Iranian ports, while Iran has kept the Strait of Hormuz closed since the conflict began. The strategic waterway is a critical route for roughly one-fifth of global oil supplies.
The closure of the strait has triggered significant economic disruption, pushing global oil prices sharply higher and driving U.S. gasoline prices upward. According to AAA, the national average price for gasoline stood at $4.51 per gallon on Sunday.
The U.S. is demanding that Iran abandon its nuclear program and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. In contrast, Tehran is seeking war reparations, an end to the blockade, and a comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon. The latest remarks from Trump underscore the fragile state of diplomacy and the persistent risk of renewed escalation in the Middle East.
