Hang Seng Weakens, Xiaomi Pressures Index
The Hang Seng Index closed down 0.2% to 25,104.61 in Hong Kong, hitting its lowest closing level since August 12. This decline erased some of the 0.2% gain in the previous session and signaled renewed selling pressure after a brief rally.
Xiaomi Corp. was the biggest drag on the index, falling 2.3%. The steepest decline was recorded by China Resources Power Holdings Co., which fell 5.9%, adding to the burden on the overall index performance.
Broadly, 42 of 85 stocks fell and 42 rose, reflecting a balanced market. Sectorally, two of four sectors declined, led by the trade and industrials group. (ayu)
