Hang Seng Index opens slightly down by 9 points, tech stocks show mixed performance
The Hang Seng Index started the day marginally lower by 9 points or 0.03%, standing at 24,274 points. Meanwhile, the Mainland Enterprises Index rose by 3 points or 0.04%, reaching 8,766 points, and the Technology Index increased by 10 points or 0.19%, closing at 5,351 points.
In the tech sector, performance varied with Tencent declining by 0.7%, Alibaba dropping by 0.5%, Meituan sliding by 0.6%, Xiaomi Group rising by 0.9%, and Kuaishou remaining stable.
Among financial stocks, HSBC Holdings showed no significant movement, while AIA Group Insurance fell by 0.4%, China Ping An increased by 0.4%, and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing rose by 0.3%. In the automotive sector, BYD Company shares dipped by 0.3%, Geely Auto rose by 0.8%, NIO surged by 1.1%, XPeng Motors remained steady, and Li Auto declined by 1.9%.
Chip stocks were in demand, with SMIC International rising by 3.1% and Hua Hong Semiconductor increasing by 1.8%.
