Hang Seng Index Rises Following Tech Gains, Chow Tai Fook Weakens on Convertible Bond Plan
Hang Seng Index opened higher on Tuesday, gaining 46 points, or 0.19%, to reach 24,107. The China Enterprises Index rose 14 points, or 0.16%, to 8,744, while the Technology Index climbed 14 points, or 0.26%, to 5,314.
Technology stocks led the gains, with Tencent up 0.8%, Alibaba advancing 1.2%, Meituan rising 0.3%, Xiaomi edging higher by 0.1%, and Kuaishou adding 0.3%.
Financial stocks were broadly stable, as HSBC Holdings rose 0.1% and AIA added 0.3%. Ping An Insurance and Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing registered no change in their share prices.
Chow Tai Fook Jewellery Group saw its stock fall 2.3% following its announcement of plans to issue convertible bonds, which weighed on investor sentiment.
