Hang Seng Gains 7 Days, Closes at Year-Last High
The Hang Seng Index rallied for the seventh consecutive day, rising 0.5%, or 141.18 points, to 27,968.09 in Hong Kong. This close marked the highest in at least a year, indicating that the market rally is still ongoing, albeit a prolonged one.
The main driver came from AIA Group Ltd., which rose 2.4%, contributing the largest share price increase. Meanwhile, Xinyi Glass Holdings Ltd. was the star of the day, surging 7.4%, the largest gainer on the index.
Of the total stocks, 54 of the 88 listed companies closed higher, while 29 fell. Interestingly, all sectors advanced, with financial stocks leading the way—making the Hang Seng rally appear to be fairly well-rounded, rather than driven by a handful of stocks. (az)
