Hang Seng Index Opens Lower as Zijin Mining Edges Higher
Hong Kong shares started the day on a softer note, with the Hang Seng Index falling 199 points, or 0.72 per cent, to open at 27,627. The broader market also came under pressure, as the China Enterprises Index dropped 60 points, or 0.63 per cent, to 9,452.
Technology stocks were similarly weaker in early trading, with the Hang Seng Tech Index declining 46 points, or 0.79 per cent, to 5,853. Despite the cautious mood across the market, Zijin Mining moved against the trend, rising by 1.87 per cent in morning deals.
