European markets lower as investors await growth data, UK budget; Campari shares fall 15%
European markets were lower on Wednesday as investors assessed a fresh batch of corporate earnings, while looking ahead to regional growth data and the U.K. government’s budget.
The pan-European Stoxx 600 traded 0.8% lower at around 9:09 a.m. London time, with most sectors and major bourses in negative territory. Technology stocks were among those leading the losses, down 1.73%.
Preliminary quarterly growth data for the EU and the euro area will be closely watched for a further indication on the region’s economic health.
In the U.K., it’s Budget day, with the Labour government set to present its taxation and spending plans to Parliament.
Meanwhile, it’s another busy day of earnings and business updates, with a host of companies scheduled to post their latest results.
