European Markets Rise; Adyen and Maersk Shares Surge
European stock markets mostly closed higher in Thursday's trading (June 13), bolstered by solid corporate earnings reports across various sectors. The Euro STOXX 50 index rose approximately 0.2% to 6,544, while the STOXX Europe 600 edged slightly lower to around 659.
Technology stocks were among the market's key drivers. ASML gained 2.7%, marking a sharp rise for the second consecutive session, following positive sentiment surrounding artificial intelligence infrastructure stocks in the US and Asia.
Adyen was among the top gainers, surging 16.4%. The rally followed the payments company's decision to raise its revenue forecast for the current year, boosting investor optimism regarding its business outlook.
Meanwhile, Danish shipping company Maersk jumped 9.4% after its earnings significantly exceeded market expectations. Maersk also raised its full-year profit forecast, driven by strong performance in its core business.
Several other companies also reported positive results. Entain and Danish offshore wind developer Orsted posted higher-than-expected core earnings for the first half of the year, helping to maintain positive sentiment in European markets.
