S&P 500 Closes Higher and Posts a Winning Week on Tech Gains
The S&P 500 closed higher on Friday and secured a weekly gain, supported by advances in several major technology stocks.
The broad market index rose to finish at 7,575.39, while the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite also gained and closed at 26,281.61.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average added nearly 150 points to settle at 52,637.01.
Nvidia was one of the main drivers of the S&P 500’s advance, with the stock climbing more than four percent. Meta Platforms also stood out, rising around six percent and heading for its strongest weekly performance since early 2024.
Meta’s gains came after Bank of America maintained its buy rating on the stock. An internal memo reviewed by Reuters also suggested that the company may be improving the cost structure of its artificial intelligence operations.
For the week, the S&P 500 gained around one percent. The Nasdaq also advanced by more than one percent, while the Dow Jones recorded a modest weekly decline.
