Japanese Yen Strengthens Slightly Towards the End of October
The Japanese Yen (JPY) strengthened slightly against the US dollar (USD), trading around ¥154.01 per USD. Despite this small gain, the Yen still recorded a decline of around 4% throughout October, making it its worst month since July 2025.
The Yen's temporary strengthening was triggered by a statement by the Japanese Finance Minister emphasizing the importance of closely monitoring exchange rate movements. Furthermore, core inflation data in Tokyo showed a 2.8% increase in October compared to the previous year, indicating inflationary pressures that could impact the Bank of Japan's (BOJ) monetary policy.
However, despite this slight strengthening, the Yen remains at its lowest level in nine months. This movement reflects the challenges faced by the BOJ in maintaining exchange rate stability amid loose monetary policy and market expectations of potential further easing. (CP)
