USD/CHF Flat, Peace Optimism Pressures Safe Havens
USD/CHF moved nearly flat on Thursday (April 16), with the US dollar holding above the 0.7800 area but still stuck below Monday's peak of around 0.7830. The weakening of the dollar's "safe haven premium" emerged amid hopes for an easing of the Middle East conflict.
US President Donald Trump boosted sentiment on Wednesday after calling the US-Iran negotiations "productive and continuing," and hinted that a new round of talks could begin soon. Trump also said Israel and Lebanon would hold direct talks to pursue a peace agreement that could support regional stabilization, although Lebanese authorities have not confirmed this statement.
Against this backdrop, USD/CHF tends to be stuck in a narrow range: diplomatic optimism is holding back the dollar's momentum, while demand for hedging could still emerge at any time if geopolitical headlines turn negative. (Arl)
