Putin Ready to Talk, But Refuses to Halt Attacks!
Russian President Vladimir Putin stated his readiness to resume talks with the United States envoy to discuss efforts to end the war in Ukraine. However, he rejected the propaganda proposal for long-range strikes that have caused significant damage to both sides.
Putin said the Kremlin had indicated that US negotiators, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, would come to Moscow after Washington's focus shifted away from the conflict with Iran. He stated that Russia was ready to resume discussions on the details and mechanisms of negotiations, including topics previously discussed with US President Donald Trump in Alaska last August.
Despite opening the door to dialogue, Putin emphasized that he would not accept proposals to halt long-range strikes into Russian and Ukrainian territory. He also rejected proposals to limit fighting to four Russian-occupied Ukrainian regions. He argued that such a move would allow Ukrainian forces to transfer forces from other parts of the front line.
Putin's stance demonstrates that Moscow still wants to maintain pressure on Ukraine. Russia continues to use long-range strikes as its primary tool to pressure Kyiv, even though Ukraine has also increasingly attacked energy facilities and military targets on Russian territory. Ukraine's attacks on Russian oil refineries have even triggered fuel supply disruptions and increased gasoline prices in several regions.
Meanwhile, Russia continues to launch drone and missile attacks on Ukraine almost daily. Putin claims that Ukraine's attacks on Russian facilities have not changed the situation on the front lines, but he acknowledged the need to accelerate the production of air defense systems to protect Russia's energy infrastructure and critical facilities.
