Dollar Snaps Winning Streak, Fed Speakers in Focus
The dollar fell versus most major peers and stayed in tight ranges as traders waited for a fresh catalyst before committing directionally and in size.
The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index reverses Asia-session gains to drop 0.1%, set to snap a three-day winning streak. Focus on speeches by New York Fed President John Williams, Fed Bank of St. Louis President Alberto Musalem, Cleveland Fed President Beth Hammack and the Richmond Fed’s Thomas Barkin.
EUR/USD gains 0.2% to 1.1769; modest corporate demand offered support earlier around 1.1730-40, a Europe-based trader says.
USD/JPY drops 0.1% to 147.81; hedge funds added to bearish yen bets during the week ending Sept. 16, Commodity Futures Trading Commission data show.
AUD/USD edges 0.1% higher to 0.6596 after Reserve Bank of Governor Michele Bullock said the central bank has “made really good progress” on inflation.
