Gold Is Fierce! Is It Still Worth Buying?
Gold strengthened on Monday, December 22, 2025, during the Asian session, rising around 1% to $4,384 per ounce, setting an all-time high (ATH). This increase occurred due to increased interest in safe haven assets as markets assessed heightened global risks.
From a fundamental perspective, the main driver came from geopolitical tensions, which made investors more cautious and tended to shift funds to gold. This situation strengthened demand for gold as a hedge against heightened uncertainty.
Furthermore, monetary policy factors also contributed. Market expectations that future interest rates would potentially be looser made gold even more attractive, as gold does not provide interest yields and therefore typically benefits when interest rates and bond yields tend to decline.
For today's movement, gold still has the opportunity to continue rising if it can hold above its previous record. The area of greatest concern to the market is $4,381–$4,385, a key zone after reaching its ATH.
If the rally continues and the price manages to break through steadily, the nearest upside target is around $4,400, with potential for a further move to $4,420. However, if profit-taking occurs, gold could potentially correct to the $4,350–$4,355 area, with the next support level around $4,320 before buying interest could re-emerge. (asd)
