US Producer Prices Rise 2.6% In May
The latest statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) showed that Producer Prices rose 2.6% in May from a year earlier. The reading was in line with estimates but slightly higher than the 2.4% growth in April.
Excluding the volatile food and energy categories, prices rose 3.0% over the past year, lower than the 3.1% forecast and lower than the 3.1% increase in the previous report.
On a monthly basis, both the headline and core Producer Price Index (PPI) rose 0.1%, lower than market expectations.(alg)
