Israel–Iran Tensions Still Hot: Threats of Retaliation, Nuclear Attacks, and Shadow Peace Efforts
Tensions between Israel and Iran have again peaked following a series of provocative statements, threats of military attacks, and covert diplomatic maneuvers from the United States. The conflict that killed thousands during the "12-Day War" does not seem to be completely over, even though the guns have temporarily stopped ringing.
Israeli defense officials confirmed that they are prepared to launch further attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities if Tehran continues its uranium enrichment program, which has now reached 60%. The Israeli government calls this a "red line".
US President Donald Trump is said to have given a "tacit green light" for additional military action against Iran. In a press conference, Trump warned that if Iran again challenges regional stability, the US will not hesitate to act quickly and decisively.
In an interview with international media, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Israel had tried to assassinate him through a covert airstrike during the conflict a few weeks ago. Although the attack failed, he called it a "blatant violation of international law".
But surprisingly, Pezeshkian also opened the door to limited nuclear dialogue with the US, on condition that Washington recognizes Iran's civil nuclear rights and lifts certain sanctions.
A White House source revealed that the US is exploring a secret meeting between special envoy Steve Witkoff and senior Iranian diplomat Abbas Araghchi in Oslo. This meeting is designed to reactivate the nuclear communication line that has been completely dead since 2023.
However, Iran still refuses to accept additional inspectors from the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency) at its sensitive facilities.
