Trump Warns of Escalated Bombing if Iran Rejects Peace Deal

President Donald Trump on Wednesday warned that Iran would face military strikes “at a much higher level” if it refuses to agree to a peace deal, raising tensions even as reports suggest Washington and Tehran are nearing an agreement to end the war.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the U.S. military campaign known as “Operation Epic Fury” would come to an end if Iran “agrees to give what has been agreed to,” though he described that outcome as “perhaps, a big assumption.” He added that, should a deal be finalized, the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports in the Gulf of Oman would allow the Strait of Hormuz to reopen to all vessels, including those from Iran.

However, Trump issued a stark warning that if Iran does not accept the proposal, bombing operations would resume at a significantly higher intensity than before. His remarks followed media reports indicating that the United States and Iran are close to finalizing a one-page memorandum of understanding outlining key points to end the conflict and establish a framework for further negotiations.

Despite the strong rhetoric, Trump later said it was still “too soon” to consider another round of in-person peace talks with Iran. He acknowledged that the war has a strong chance of ending but reiterated that military action would intensify if diplomacy fails.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran is reviewing the proposal and will deliver its response through mediator Pakistan. In a separate statement, an Iranian spokesperson stressed that genuine negotiations require good faith and cannot be conducted through pressure, coercion, or threats.
