Nikkei 225 down 0.20% at close
Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Manufacturing and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which rose 4.43% or 112.50 points to trade at 2,654.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501) added 4.35% or 19.30 points to end at 463.10 and IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) was up 4.26% or 480.00 points to 11,750.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803), which fell 5.31% or 329.00 points to trade at 5,869.00 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) declined 4.84% or 421.00 points to end at 8,283.00 and Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) was down 4.82% or 124.00 points to 2,451.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2238 to 1353 and 275 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.79% to 28.16 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.55% or 0.37 to $66.38 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.54% or 0.38 to hit $70.18 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 6.94 to trade at $3,047.74 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.12% to 149.52, while EUR/JPY fell 0.07% to 163.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.22% at 103.12.
