US Stocks Extend Record Run to 4th Session
US stocks extended gains on Wednesday, with the S&P 500 up 0.3%, the Nasdaq advancing 0.7%, and the Dow Jones rising 170 points, marking a fourth straight session of record highs.
Nvidia shares rose almost 5% to become the first company reaching a market cap of $5 trillion, after US President Trump said he would discuss the company’s Blackwell processors with China’s Xi Jinping, putting the AI leader on track to become the first public company valued at $5 trillion. AMD (2.4%) and Micron Technology (2.3%) were also higher.
Meanwhile, traders assess a new wave of corporate results, with Microsoft (-0.1%), Meta (+0.1%), and Alphabet (+0.6%), all due to report after the closing bell. Verizon gained 3.7% after reaffirming its full-year outlook, while Caterpillar jumped 9.8% following stronger Q3 sales. In contrast, Boeing tumbled 4% after an earnings miss.
On the monetary policy front, the Fed is widely expected to cut interest rates by another 25bps later today.
