European Stocks Lower
Major bourses in Europe declined on Thursday, with both the STOXX 50 and STOXX 600 falling by nearly 0.5%, as renewed concerns over the US fiscal outlook rattled global sentiment.
Investors remain cautious as negotiations over President Trump's tax bill continue, with a vote potentially taking place as early as today. The proposed bill is expected to widen the budget deficit by approximately $3 billion over the next decade.
Meanwhile, attention turns to flash PMI data from Europe's largest economies, due this morning. In France, the figures showed a continued contraction in private sector activity, marking the ninth consecutive month of decline.
On the corporate front, Generali slipped 1.3% despite posting stronger-than-expected profits. easyJet also traded lower, down 1.7%, as quarterly losses came in above expectations, though the airline reaffirmed it remains on track to meet its full-year market guidance.
