S&P, Nasdaq Rebound, Nvidia in Focus
The S&P 500 rose 0.2% and the Nasdaq gained 0.4% on Wednesday, rebounding after four straight sessions of losses, while the Dow Jones traded around the flatline. Consumer staples and technology were the best-performing sectors while healthcare and consumer staples underperformed. Traders are eagerly awaiting Nvidia’s earnings report, due after the bell, especially for any insight into the potential impact of the DeepSeek revelations.
Nvidia shares rose about 2.5%. Also, Lowe’s Companies jumped more than 1.7% after reporting a 0.2% increase in same-store sales, marking its first positive growth in nearly two years. General Motors also rose more than 5% after announcing a 25% increase in its quarterly dividend. Meanwhile, traders continue to monitor a minerals agreement between Ukraine and the U.S.. Apple shares fell about 2% after the company’s shareholders rejected a proposal to eliminate its diversity, equity and inclusion program.
