European Stocks Rise Ahead of ECB Decision, Deutsche Bank Misses
European stocks rose on Thursday as investors digested a slew of earnings updates while keeping an eye on an interest rate decision from the European Central Bank due later in the day.
The Stoxx Europe 600 Index was up 0.3% by 08:17 a.m. London time, with industrials, tech stocks and the media sectors among the biggest gainers. On a busy day for earnings, Spanish banks BBVA and CaixaBank SA both rallied after robust updates. Swiss electrical engineer ABB Ltd. shares rose after seeing orders surge.
However, Deutsche Bank AG shares dropped after the lender’s earnings and outlook disappointed, and Wizz Air Holdings Plc slumped after cutting its forecast. Swatch Group AG plunged after its earnings took a hit from a decline in Chinese demand.
