European Markets Open Higher In Shortened Session
European markets opened higher on Tuesday, in a shortened trading session for Christmas Eve.
At the opening bell, the pan-European Stoxx 600 index was up about 0.3%, with all sectors in positive territory. Technology stocks were among the leaders, following a strong trading session on Monday for U.S.-listed tech stocks.
European stocks ended Monday's session slightly higher, as investors reacted to more disappointing economic news out of the U.K., and the Stoxx 600 was lifted by a recovery in pharmaceutical giant Novo Nordisk's shares.
Novo Nordisk continued its rally on Tuesday, rising to the top of the Stoxx 600 during early deals and up 5.7% as of 8:09 a.m. London time. The Danish pharmaceutical giant's shares recovered from a major selloff last week, which followed disappointing results from a trial of its weight-loss drug CagriSema.
