Dollar Extends Gains as US Tariffs Come Into Focus
The dollar rose on Friday, as US tariff announcements and underwhelming Nvidia Corp. results prompted investors to shun risk.
The Bloomberg Dollar Spot Index advanced for a third session, hitting its highest since Feb. 13, after President Donald Trump said the 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico would come into force from March 4, while Chinese imports would face a further 10% levy.
USD/JPY down 0.1% at 149.60, paring losses of as much as 0.5%. USD/CHF down 0.1% at 0.8990.
NZD/USD down 0.5% to 0.5604. AUD/USD down 0.4% to 0.6213. EUR/USD down 0.1% to 1.0388. GBP/USD down 0.1% to 1.2586.
