US Dollar Weakens on Trump Inauguration Day
The US Dollar (USD) weakened at the start of the week as investors prepared for the second inauguration of Donald Trump. Meanwhile, US stock and bond markets will be closed in observance of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday.
After closing in positive territory on Friday, the USD Index turned lower in the European morning on Monday and is trading in negative territory around 109.00. Trump is expected to announce tighter restrictions on immigration on his first day in office. More importantly, investors will be watching for any comments on his tariff policies and their potential impact on markets and the inflation outlook.
