Mojtaba Khamenei Threatens Further Attacks, Pressure on Hormuz
Iran's new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, delivered his first public statement on Iranian television, asserting that Iran will not hold back in “avenging the blood of martyrs” and that attacks on bases in neighboring countries will “inevitably” continue.
In his statement, Khamenei called for national unity and participation in Quds Day. He also emphasized the need to continue the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as an instrument of pressure on the enemy.
Khamenei also stated that all US bases in the region “must be closed immediately” and that they will be the targets of attacks. He added that Iran “believes in friendship with its neighbors” and stated that the targets are the bases, not the surrounding countries.
He thanked the “resistance front fighters,” whom he called Iran’s best friends, and emphasized that Iran will demand compensation from the enemy or destroy their assets. Khamenei also called the “resistance front” an integral part of the values of the Islamic Revolution.
