UK Core Inflation Rate Highest in A Year
The United Kingdom's annual core inflation rate rose to 3.8% in April 2025 from 3.4% in the previous month, exceeding market forecasts of 3.6% and marking its highest reading since April 2024.
The annual CPI goods rate jumped (1.7% vs 0.6% in March), and the CPI services rate also accelerated (5.4% vs 4.7%). On a monthly basis, core consumer prices rose by 1.4%, accelerating sharply from a 0.5% gain in March. It was above expectations of 1.2%.
