Consumer Sentiment Falls As Inflation Concerns Grow
The University of Michigan’s gauge of consumer sentiment fell slightly to 50.8 in a preliminary reading in May from 52.2 in the prior month. It was the fifth straight monthly decline. Inflation expectations have edged higher.
Economists surveyed by the Wall Street Journal had forecast sentiment rising to 53.5.
