Switzerland Inflation Rate at Near 4-Year Low
The annual inflation rate in Switzerland eased slightly to 0.3% in February 2025, down from 0.4% in January. This marks the lowest level since April 2021, with housing and energy prices rising softer (1.4% vs 1.6% in January) while transport prices (-1.1% vs -0.8%) and clothing and footwear (-0.5% vs -0.1%) fell more than the previous month. By contrast, recreation and culture inflation accelerated (1.0% vs 0.5%).
Meanwhile, prices continued to decline for food and non-alcoholic beverages (-0.6% vs -1.1%), household goods and services (-1.2% vs -1.4%), and healthcare (-0.4% vs -0.6%). Meanwhile, the annual core inflation rate, which excludes volatile items such as unprocessed food and energy, stood at 0.9%, the same pace as in January.
On a monthly basis, the CPI rose by 0.6% in February, the first increase in nine months and the fastest pace since February 2024, beating market forecasts of a 0.5% gain.
