China Trade Surplus Largest in 4 Months
China's trade surplus jumped to USD 95.27 billion in October 2024 from USD 56.13 billion in the same period a year earlier, surpassing market expectations of USD 75.1 billion. It was the largest trade surplus since June due to a jump in exports amid falls in imports.
Sales surged 12.7% yoy, far above forecasts of 5% to mark the fastest pace since July 2022 and accelerating sharply from a 2.4% gain in September. Meanwhile, imports dropped 2.3%, reversing from a 0.3% growth in September, and missing consensus of a 1.5% fall, due to fragile domestic demand.
