Trump : U.S. Ready for ‘Next Conquest,’ Warns Military Will Stay Near Iran Until ‘Real Agreement’ Is Honored

President Donald Trump said Wednesday that U.S. military forces will remain deployed in and around Iran until Tehran fully complies with what he called the “real agreement,” warning that any breach would trigger a military response bigger than anything seen before.

“All US ships, aircraft, and military personnel...will remain in place in, and around, Iran, until such time as the REAL AGREEMENT reached is fully complied with,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “If for any reason it is not...the ‘Shootin’ Starts,’ bigger, and better, and stronger than anyone has ever seen before.”

Trump reiterated that the understanding includes Iran not developing nuclear weapons and the Strait of Hormuz being open and safe for commercial shipping. “In the meantime our great Military is Loading Up and Resting, looking forward, actually, to its next Conquest,” he added, ending the near-midnight post with: “AMERICA IS BACK!”

The remarks came a day after Washington and Tehran agreed to a two-week ceasefire brokered by Pakistan, pausing six weeks of fighting and briefly lifting global risk sentiment on expectations that energy flows could resume through Hormuz. Iran said safe passage through the strait would be possible, but contingent on coordination with its armed forces.

Key terms remain contested, however, with the U.S. and Iran appearing far apart on demands. Tehran rejected Washington’s reported 15-point proposal and was said to have presented a 10-point plan of its own, including halting Israeli strikes against Hezbollah in Lebanon and lifting all sanctions. In a separate post earlier Wednesday, Trump described the 10-point plan reported by The New York Times and CNN as “totally fake.”

Israel backed Trump’s decision to suspend strikes on Iran but insisted the ceasefire does not extend to Lebanon, launching its harshest offensives there since the war began in February and killing at least 182 people on Wednesday. Iran said those attacks made it “unreasonable” to proceed with talks toward a permanent deal with the U.S., underscoring the truce’s fragility. The U.S. and Iran are expected to meet for a new round of negotiations in Islamabad on Friday.

Oil prices turned higher on Thursday as continued hostilities dented hopes for a swift end to the war. Brent crude futures for June delivery rose 2.46% to $97.08, while U.S. West Texas Intermediate futures for May climbed 3.4% to $97.55.

In an interview with CNBC on Wednesday, Lebanese Economy Minister Amer Bisat said Lebanon was “forced into this war” by external actors and reiterated the country’s call for a “sovereign-led ceasefire” and a negotiated settlement. “We are paying a devastating price for this war, war that was imposed on us,” he said.
