Zelenskiy Ready to Meet Trump, Here's What to Discuss!

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy revealed that he will meet with US President Donald Trump in the coming days. This meeting signals optimism about the possibility of reaching a peace agreement to end the nearly four-year war with Russia. Zelenskiy made the announcement in a post on Telegram and X on Friday, after receiving an update from Rustem Umerov, Ukraine's chief negotiator with the US.

Zelenskiy said much could be decided before the New Year, indicating that the two countries are in intensive talks. According to reports, Zelenskiy is likely to travel to Florida, where Trump is spending the Christmas holidays, on Sunday to meet directly with the US President.

Zelenskiy and Trump are currently working on finalizing a 20-point peace plan that will be submitted to Russian President Vladimir Putin. While both sides have agreed on most of the plan's points, several unresolved issues remain, one of which is Ukraine's rejection of territorial concessions in the Russian-controlled Donetsk region. Earlier on Thursday, Zelenskiy said he had had a very good conversation about the peace plan with Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, US envoys. These talks were seen as a positive step toward a more peaceful and stable resolution of the war in the region.

The decision to resume direct negotiations with Trump also indicates that the two leaders have reached a point where they can discuss a more detailed solution to end the conflict that has claimed many lives and devastated Ukraine's economy.

If the peace plan is agreed upon in the near future, it would be a major breakthrough in efforts to resolve the long-running war and establish long-term peace in Eastern Europe. (asd)
