Australia October Inflation Rate Above Forecasts
Australia’s annual inflation accelerated to 3.8% in October 2025, up from 3.6% in September and above expectations of a 3.6% increase, remaining above the Reserve Bank of Australia’s 2–3% target range. This marked the highest inflation reading since the data series began in April 2025, when the Australian Bureau of Statistics introduced the full monthly CPI starting in October. The acceleration was driven primarily by rising housing costs (5.9% vs. 5.7%) and transport prices (2.7% vs. 2.3%), both at their highest levels since at least April, while food inflation remained steady at 3.2%. On a monthly basis, CPI was unchanged after rising 0.5% in September.(asd)
