BEA Cancels Advance Third Quarter GDP Report After Shutdown
The Bureau of Economic Analysis announced the advance estimate of third quarter US gross domestic product is canceled.
The figures were originally scheduled to be released Oct. 30 but were delayed due to the federal government shutdown. The September income and spending report, which includes the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, will be released Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. in Washington.
The BEA typically releases three estimates of GDP over the course of several months as more data is available. The second estimate for the third quarter, which was scheduled to be published Wednesday, has yet to be rescheduled. The third quarter GDP figures cover the July-September period, before the longest US government shutdown on record.
Statistical agencies delayed the release of a number of key reports during the shutdown. In some cases, figures for the month of October will not be published because the data was not able to be collected.
